Derechos Laborales: Defending Worker Rights

Unidos Nueva Alianza is committed to protecting and advancing the rights of farmworkers and other essential laborers across our region. Farmworkers are the backbone of our agricultural communities and deserve to be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.

All workers  regardless of immigration status are protected under federal and state labor laws. These protections include the right to:

  • Fair Wages – Including minimum wage, overtime pay, and proper compensation under the law.

  • Safe Working Conditions – Employers must provide a work environment free from hazards and with access to water, shade, and rest, especially for those working in extreme conditions.

  • Protection from Exploitation – Workers have the right to report labor violations without fear of retaliation.

  • Paid Rest Breaks and Overtime – Especially important for those working long hours in the fields or packing sheds.

  • Prevailing Wages on Public Works Projects – Ensuring fair pay for construction workers and those contracted on public infrastructure jobs.

Through workshops, outreach, and collaboration with trusted partners, UNA educates workers about their rights and helps connect them to legal resources when violations occur. We also provide Know Your Rights trainings, bilingual support, and referrals to labor attorneys and worker protection agencies.

Whether you’re experiencing unsafe conditions, wage theft, or just want to better understand your rights as a worker, our team is here to stand with you.
